Provstehuset in Northwest

Provstehuset is located in the diverse Northwest neighborhood, close to Copenhagen’s educational institutions. Northwest is buzzing with life, blending beautiful nature with urban charm. With grocery stores and public transportation within a few minutes' walk, your home's location makes everyday life easy.

At Provstehuset, we embrace diversity, warmly welcoming both Danish and international students. We believe this creates a strong dynamic, where friendships form across borders.

We Offer

Due to the building's recent construction, we provide modern apartments and beautifully designed common areas.

Provstehuset offers several facilities, all designed to complement the building's appealing surroundings.

Common room • Shared kitchen • Study room • Free fitness • Roof terrace • Free courtyard parking • Secure bicycle cellar • Laundry facilities.

We have an office located within the building, fostering informal and easily accessible communication between Provstehuset's residents and staff.

Architect’s Ideas

When you step into the common room in Provstehuset, you'll quickly notice that creative and unconventional ideas have been implemented.

You'll see how nature has been welcomed indoors—not only because the materials chosen are natural wood that brings warmth, but also through the inclusion of tree trunks, making it easy to imagine branches reaching beyond the building’s roof.

The space provides multiple possibilities, whether for social gatherings, studying, or anything in between.

Challenge your best opponent to table football while spectators cheer from the stands.

Inspire, motivate, and engage by taking notes and creating mind maps with your study group on the enormous notepads.

Awaken your inner child and relax on a swing while spending time with your closest friends.

Immerse yourself in peace and quiet in the enclosed study room, where wooden slats shield you from distractions.

The architect's execution creates spaces suitable for both social interaction and deep focus in numerous ways.

Provstehuset’s History

Provstehuset was constructed on the corner of Provstevej and Theklavej in 2017.

Before the student apartment complex was built, the original plan in 2008 was to demolish the previous corner property from 1887, originally located on Carolinevej (today Provstevej) and Thoravej.

In the old days, this building housed families who managed to accommodate two adults and six children in just 29 square meters. By comparison, Provstehuset's smallest student apartments offer three additional square meters.

Back in 2008, Den Gamle By (The Old Town) museum in Aarhus was searching for a corner property for its 1974 district. When they learned about the demolition plan for the old building, action quickly followed. Instead of facing demolition, the building was transported to Aarhus and given new life.

Today, a piece of Northwest Copenhagen stands proudly on display, allowing visitors to explore history at Den Gamle By’s living museum.
